Trains at Watford Junction on August 22nd 2024 featuring Avanti West Coast Voyagers!
Here we see a few trains passing Watford Junction on the 22nd of August 2024, featuring freshly painted 66305 working an intermodal to Felixstowe, 66711 on another intermodal for London Gateway (featuring double bowledge!) and finally two pairs of Avanti West Coast Class 221 Voyagers, which are being replaced by new Class 805s within a couple of months.

Sadly I couldn’t see the southbound working due to work commitments however, I managed to see the light engines returning north. On the 22nd of August 2024, Balfour Beatty newly painted 20901 & 20905 are seen thrashing through South Acton running around 90 mins late working 6J09 from Woking to Bletchley with the drain train in tow. Enjoy!

One of the best, if not the best railtour I’ve done was on August 18th 2024. It ran from York - Wakefield Via Drax Power station, 3 times (yes, 3!) once with DB Cargo, once with GBRf and the last with Freightliner. Over two consecutive days in August 2024, two new deliveries of wagons took place. On August 5th we see 66792 with a lengthy rake of new Mendip Rail wagons for Freightliner in VTG blue colours working from Dollands Moor - Wembley. They entered traffic the very next day! The annual summer diesel gala was held at the Spa Valley Railway as usual in the first weekend of August, with locos 03089, 08922, D7535, 31430, 33202, 50021 & 73140 taking part over the 3 days. Sounds a bit like the German class 245 ( 4x Caterpillar 750 hp). ruclips.net/video/TRgTIKlXhiE/видео.html . Not very thrashy. German railfans like the growl and turbo whistle of the 2800 hp TB11 engine in the class 218 predecessor a lot better. ruclips.net/video/Up-wwQVRRWk/видео.html . And that engine isn't very thrashy, either. More like a heavy lorry.
